I'll spell it out for you...until the Communist invasion of Tibet in 1949 the Chinese had never had power in Tibet. Tibet gov issued passports, dealt with foreign powers, collected taxes, paid no tribute and actually kicked out all CHinese officials (ambans) from the Tibetan capital!! Tibet was free and will be again, you need to educate yourself instead of rep. Xinhua!

the yuan dynasty was mongolian which based itself in china and was eventually over thrown by the han chinese because it was so oppressive. The chinese territories were administered as occupied territories whilst the Tibetans were given special status due to the priest-patron relationship b/w the khans and tibetan buddhist leaders. the tibetans were also incorp. before chinese territories and left prior to the chinese uprising. KMT never had any authority in Tibet unlike the manchus! FREE TIBET
