@Beyond the Mistakes: i doubt he was abused in that way as a child,but you have a good idea.Its probably this person he looked up to thought of him as a disapointment,and then he starts losing help in trying to impress them,so he starts destroying himself,and its all that person's fault (i tried my best to explain it,but i think you get the point)

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the meaning behind this song? My guess would be that John Cooper's (lead singer) dad perhaps beat him when he was younger yet John wanted so badly to look up to his father. I beleive John is expressing how his dad couldn't hate him because he loved him but his dad also couldn't love him because he beat John. Am I correct? Thanks in advance!
