Stumbling on Happiness is one of my favorite psych books of all time. and it makes me very happy to own it. Read it and you will find out why most conventional widom is wrong and why Daniel Gilbert is da man.

for the students with no choice of getting the other picture - it implies an ignorance towards what the other option might have brought to them. but still they seem to be happy according tho the results..so it implies ignorant people are happier than people who over-analise their choices( they sometimes over analyse sometimes becasue their do not have comprehensive imformation to make the right decesion)

this is why arranged marriage and being in a conservative society is better than where people fuck around and hurt their partners becvasue of selfishness and wanting to explore ither potential options, leading to divorces. everything about indian philosphy and way of life is great. unlike the west where 99% of them has an undeserving attitude in the way in which the talk and act - which is the only thing that is noticed if u happen to be there.

If you have the capacity to know of your ignorance, then everybody does, it's just that they're too lazy to move forwards from there and they're lying to themselves (but deep down they know they do). In fact you do so too, in a regular basis too. The severity of those lies would determine how good freedom eventually can be for you. You have to be as intellectually honest as possible to reap the benefits of free choice...

We're naturally lazy and -most of us- leave it at that, those who see the tricky nature of laziness often act against it, but the restless spirits are not too many, dogma is easier. However do not think even for a moment that fundamentalists -for example- are sure of their faith, if they were sure of their convictions they would never take up arms against the apostates. Deep down they know they may be wrong, that's why they don't like the apostate to show them where, they're lazy.

Ignorance is a currency all possess, not everyone in the same quantity but still. The fact that deep down we all know we're ignorant is why we pursuit knowledge in the first place, not always as much as we should, but still. There's no real divide between the ignoramuses and the knowledgeable, we're all shades of gray. The problem is not the reassurance that you give yourself, the problem is the intellectual laziness.
