Oh yes, because there are like rules that you *must* follow.

This video shows the follower turning 360 degrees which is not what I was taught. A swing turn is more of a switch-places action with one partner turning and the other partner rotating to reduce the distance which the turning partner must spin.

This was a little different than what I learned last month. I think we did a rock step, then 4 to the left, 4 to the right, rockstep. Then the leader spun the follower the first time and my right hand met with her right hand, then we rockstepped, 4 left, 4 right, spun her again. This time my right hand took her left hand. But this was still a nice refresher course for me.

This is really funny because swing is so easy but a lot of these people are having trouble. Im a lot younger than all of them but im great at swing and I've only taken a class for a week at camp.

or we could all just learn lindy, which is constantly changing and moving from open to closed, and requires a much stronger connection with your partner (sorry im a lindy kid, but i started with swing, as most do)

Very true, but the better you get the more you can do in a closed position. Then again there's always the choice of dropping down to open just before executing the move. If you do it right it looks to be part of a combination move as opposed to a lead in.
