Yes. Song of the South is up there with both Gone with the Wind and The Color Purple. If I can say what else is on DVD besides them two movies are both television series' of Roots and North & South. My 5th grade social studies teacher (back in 1996) who in fact is African American showed us Roots and my 7th grade social studies teacher (back in 1998) who wasn't, showed us North & South. If both movies and both television series' can be put onto DVD, then so can Disney's Song of the South.

If those two can be released without any trouble, then Song of the South should be, too. I am just outraged by the fact that it hasn't been shown legally in over 20 years since its last theatrical re-release.

It's just a nonsensical term. It has no real meaning, but it's fun to say!

I just watched the entire movie of Song of the South, posted here on YouTube. Since comments were disabled in each video (since it was in 10 parts, like other movies posted onto YouTube) I'd like to say that I really liked it. Since it had Hattie McDaniel who was Mammy on MGM's golden age classic; Gone with the Wind, it was really good to watch it from beginning to end. I think Disney's Song of the South is up there with Gone with the Wind and Steven Spielberg's 1985 drama; The Color Purple.
