The pilot episode of 'CrAP Debunked'. If you liked this video, please help to spread it. Various images/videos produced by ESA/NASA/ESO. Errata: 1. The phrase "Infinite volume hypothesis" is incorrect here. I meant to say either "Infinite density hypothesis" or "Zero volume hypothesis" (each implies the other). 2. Typo. The proton is in fact around one TRILLION times smaller than a full stop, not one billion. 3. Typo. This should of course read "..YouTube account". Thanks to Agnostic1 for making me aware of that! "Throw in the Global Warming hoax and you have enough information to know how reliable science is at dealing with things far into the future and far into the past." What Global Warming hoax?
AndromedasWake (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
GW/CC is not a hoax Entropy56.

Throw in the Global Warming hoax and you have enough information to know how reliable science is at dealing with things far into the future and far into the past.

Ahh yes, the increase in mass is a good point. Now I can say I learned something today. Well, actually several somethings by my count
XGralgrathor (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
" Less mass would mean a radically different atmosphere. " (Aside from the fact that they'd have to explain where the new mass came from ;))
XGralgrathor (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
« but how they relate to the earth expanding or not I couldn't tell you. » Ah, simple. If the Earth were expanding at anything near the rate claimed, we could measure it using GPS. If it were smaller in the past, then either it had less mass, or everything we know (and observe) about physics is wrong. Less mass would mean a radically different atmosphere. While it is at the basis of GPS, I named R.T. just for good measure ;) Certainly there are many other facts the E.A. violates.

And being interesting doesn't make it right, and I never said it did. Actually, if it had any real merit, I would think more of the scientific community would support it.
Stuartsaves (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Well, I've been looking over the facts regarding this expanding earth theory, and it does seem pretty far fetched, since it doesn't provide a mechanism to explain said expansion, and it also ignores things like the process of subduction and a lot of other verified findings. And, be clear that I'm no scientist, yes I've heard of relativity theory, conservation of mass and such things, but how they relate to the earth expanding or not I couldn't tell you. But it is, as I said, interesting.
XGralgrathor (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
« I haven't actually done any fact checking as of yet » I'd also be surprised if you had never heard of such things as GPS, relativity theory, conservation of mass, etc... Certainly you're just humoring Entropy56?
XGralgrathor (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
« I haven't actually done any fact checking as of yet » But I assume that you've had education in basic matters regarding geology and astronomy in high school - specifically regarding the way it is thought that star systems form, and the way our planet has developed. It would be very surprised if you did not know that the things you were told in highschool presented the view of the vast (99+ %) majority of the scientific community for a number of decades now, if not longer.
