I've been in a hypnosis group session before. It was exactly like this. Others felt the way you did, more aware, afterwards. I broke out into tears after the session. It was horrid, knowing I lost my own will to someone else...

its an orientation exercise. never mind how it sounds, if it is done on you you end up feeling more aware. i know it sounds weird but it is very true. it is nothing to do with hypnosis

That is because by convincing the lower members that psychology is evil, it is alienating them from their main source of salvation, as psychologists are really the only ones who can help them cure the brainwashing.
tl;dr, they are brainwashed to hate people who can cure brainwashing.
Interestingly enough, the dictionary describes psychology as exactly what scientolgy is, and describes scientology in a way very familiar to psychology. What a way to confuse people...
