I don't know which came first but the guitar at the start is pretty similar to gone to the movies by semisonic. Irrelevant really both great songs, although beefheart trumps both!

My mistake. I always listened to Like The Deserts Miss the Rain off the Amplified Heart disc. I'd never heard this song before and figured it was off Tracy's new solo record. My bad =(
