Otis "SITO" Escalators at Irving Mall "Neighborhood Macy's."

RATING: G, for families. No need to flag. A video response to CaptainElevator42189's Otis escalator video. Since I was excited to see these videos, I put in the comments that these were "SITO Escalators;" that's what I called them when I was little due to the weird-looking "OTIS" font on the floor plate. Now I have some "SITOs" to share on YouTube! These are four 1971-model "SITO" escalators at the Neighborhood Macy's store at Irving Mall (next to D/FW Airport). There are three floors in this store. Here's the history: - February 3, 1971-1979: Opened as Titche-Goettinger, a Dallas-based department store (known in the suburban locations simply as "Titche's." Their most famous location is the NorthPark location which is now the flagship Dillard's for Dallas.) The mall in whole (and Penney's) actually opened on August 4; Titche's and Sears were the very first tenants to open. - 1979-1987: Joske's, a San Antonio-based department store, who purchased the local-wide Titche's chain in 1979. - 1987-89: Vacant. Joske's was bought out by Dillard's of Little Rock, Arkansas, but there was already a 1984 Dillard's at Irving Mall, so the old Titche's/Joske's building closed. - 1989-2006: Foley's, a Houston-based department store. Their previous location was at Plymouth Park Shopping Center in the same strip area as Kroger (now demolished and made into a parking lot). The old Irving location opened on July 24, 1963 as Sanger-Harris, then remodeled in 1971 (no mosaic installed) before being purchased by Foley's in 1987. - 2006-present: Macy's. The signs were changed in August of 2006. It's not visible in the video due to the quality of my phone's camcorder as well as the lighting, but you will see that "OTIS" upside-down reads "SITO."
