9-1-1 Song - song for young children

Window Cleaning Poles

Window Cleaning Poles

This is the SONG ONLY version about dialing 9-1-1 intended to teach 3 major concepts. It directs children to dial 9-1-1 if they're in trouble AND they're alone, tells them to give their name, address, and problem, and informs them of the 3 kinds of help they can expect (ambulance, fire truck, police). Not included is a lesson on what constitues an emergency which precedes the teaching of this song. You may be interested in knowing that I wrote this lesson and song as the result of a newspaper article I read while a popular show called "9-1-1" was on the air. The article was about some kind of emergency that had happened and quoted the child involved as saying he wanted to call 9-1-1 (the emergency response team on the show), but he didn't know their phone number. From that time on, every child in my school got the lesson and song before leaving for summer vacation. Please rate and comment. Thank you.

What a good idea! The numbers 9-9-9 could easily be substituted in the song. I also think the choice of 9-9-9 as an emergency number is far superior to 9-1-1. When you're frantic, hitting the same key 3 times is much easier than looking for a second key to push. Thanks for the input.

Ilove this video with it's repetitive 9-1-1 theme which will help children learn the number. However,I am british and over here the emergency number is 999.I'm sure the entire U.K.would be grateful to you if you made a "U.K. friendly version.

Children today & dating back to 1960's minds & body mechanics are not developed properly through day camps & school systems so kids have a true understanding that one day they will not be kids &eventually will be responsible for their own lives. worst type of abuse of a child other than parental abuse is same age peer abuse & a system that allows children from their most helpless stages to believe phony things about society & the world of the future through all types of TV not just violent shows

I heard a recording on Jay Leno where a child did exactly that. LOL The lesson that precedes the introduction of this song discusses what constitutes an "emergency" and distinguishes the need for an ambulance, cruiser, or fire truck from the other "problems" children encounter. The other critical point is that a child should go to a grownup in an emergency and dial 9-1-1 only if an adult is not available.
