Or, I should say, that's how SOME of their albums were. Although I'm not a big fan of Ire Works, their older stuff is still pretty intense. Check out the album "Calculating Infinity."

Meshuggah DO play in 4/4 for the most part, it's just so heavily syncopated that it's damn near impossible to tell unless you have really good internal rhythm. And the thing about DEP is, not all their stuff sounds like this. They make a few poppy songs per album as a brilliant marketing ploy, really, so that little emo kids who like Fall Out Boy will buy their albums just to be kicked in the face by the sheer brutality.

this is not metal...and i said heavy indie...heavy...heavy...HEAVY! kooks are just fucking pop indie...so they cant be compared...they may have rock influences....but it aint metal, dont ever include this garbage with metal...mastadon, lamb of god, pantera, megadeath, chimaira,....these are metal bands....this is heavy indie jazz

You're an idiot. This band is good, you've just grown accustomed to songs with your typical 4/4 time signatures, so of course you're not going to open minded to anything that sounds good. Also, you fail at making up genres, of course it's going to sound bullshit and fabricated, you made it up. They aren't heavy indie, they are MATHCORE (in all caps since you seem to not get the picture), stop arguing about a band (and genre) you don't know anything about.
