This also avoids any legal conflicts with dealers who hold lifetime agreements on the rights to sell Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler. Breaking it up this way would inspire faster product development as more than one retail distribution channel would be providing orders to the plant. Nissan, VW and Renault could also develop and provide the cars under the Dodge, Chrysler Jeep brands for all dealers involved.

For Cerberus this would be perfect as they would not have to deal with the unions yet would be in the money when the economy comes back in a year or two. Think of it this way Walmart, Target, etc don't actually build what they sell. They are a sales and marketing organization only have been known to make a few bucks at it. This is all being discussed now.

Chrysler could also sell the Minivan plant to VW since the VW Routan minivan is built by Dodge. Cerberus get the asset off its books at a profit, dodge dealers keep their mininvans, VW owns nameplate/production and away we go. They same could hold true for Jeep as Renault, who owned Jeep previously (AMC) would like to have it back. If Cerberus breaks it up this way everybody wins. Cerberus will only own the sales/marketing part of the company.

Still think there will be mergers/brand sell-offs of sorts. Chrysler could sell its Dodge truck plant and RAM nameplate to Nissan who continues to build the trucks along with the next generation Titan. Ceberus gets the asset off its books with a profit, dealers get their trucks, Nissan gets a plant or two and workers keep their jobs. Does anyone really care WHO owns the plant.

no, I don't. Chrysler has screwed too many people over, out of the Big 3 more people are going back to or over to GM and Ford so out of the Big 3 unless they have a major breakthrough or downsize the company down to next to nothing, I see Chrysler going under before GM or Ford.
