Was VERY fortunate to see Mel Torme, George Shearing and Woody Herman's Thundering Herd on the same bill in Cohasset, Ma in the early 80's - awesome show; Mel Torme is maybe our most gifted singer, R.I.P.

Smart posters. That is indeed "The Baron" John Von Ohlen and not Donny as I am Donny's agent and he was with Mel at the time, however this was Marty's group and John was on the tour. I have some Donny Osborne videos on my posts at "booksdates". Please check them out and also check out the DVD "Standing Room Only" with Mel Torme and big band with strings. Donny is featured on a few tracks.

Jazz singers yearn to have half of Mels talent. Absolute genius.

The drummer is John Von Ohlen, amazmace. Aren't these guys superhuman with their music? Torme's voice is so easy to listen to, I never get tired of it. Torme and Paich are a good combination. |
