Cara Lenia, Tiziana Sojat ha una voce impareggiabile, da grande soprano, come la madre Alda Soni. Lenia dear, Tiziana Sojat has a unparalleled voice, from great soprano, like the mother Alda Soni. Thanks, for the signalling! Giovanni

Noone can doubt the impact Callas's voice, stature on stage, interpretations, acting has on audiences.AND if one wants to hear what the composer wanted one should hear Her interpretations as she had Great respect for the score. She was the most dynamic figure in Opera. However a beautiful voice is a beautiful voice which undoubtedly if not used well may Not give you the shrill another voice might, due to a better interpretation... There I absolutely agree with you..

but beauty is extremely subjective, isn't it? liking callas does not mean despising the other singers (as mr. francesco here might understand) honestly, her voice might be (might have been) shrilly, but no other voice in the recording history has ever given me even similar emotion. other may have angelical voices. truth is, operatic characters are rarely angelical.

puoi dire tutto quello che vuoi, ma non che la callas aveva una pronuncia orribile. so that everyone could understand, you can say anything you like, but not that Callas had a horrible diction. she could teach us all.

I am not an opera expert but I think I am not an ignorant either; in fact, I don't think these things are a matter of knowledge but of feeling. I had to choose one of the many versions of this scenes available here at YTb. No matter the technical flaws it may have, this one is the one that IMHO transmits better the dramatism of the scene; even the sometimes broken voice of the soprano helps in that. BTW, however famous it may be, I don't like Callas interpretation, too baroque in my opinion...

I'm agreed with you; we have to consider her like a geat artist, of course. I just think that, in 2008, we can also assess her objectively... Bye, and thanks!
