Just read the Black Book of Communism, available on Amazon, if you want a taste of what a good ole atheist regime can do. One of Communism's main tenets has always been atheism, not coincidental. Stalin, alone, had millions slaughtered, probably he "beats" more than all religious wars, just by himself.
Hitler had his own little religious cult and persecuted the confessing church of Germany led by Karl Barth and Dietrich Bonhoffer. Bonhoffer was executed by Hitler.

Actually, Hitler we have no way of knowing for sure what Adolph Hitler's religious beliefs were, although it is undeniable he and the other Nazis gave the regime at least the appearance of being religious or divine.

Nazi Germany, the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, pogroms, Islamofascist states.
Compare to heavily secular governments in modern times, which, while not explicitly atheist, are, indeed, majority-free of religious influence, including France, Canada, Sweden.

killua, nice little try, but history just doesn't support your distraction to the truth which is that atheist regimes kill and they do it on a grand scale otherwise almost unknown. BTW, where is the mustache on Pol Pot or Mao.

Alot of people came here to escape religious persecution. Most of them, both founding fathers and imigrants were Christian, some were other, yet the majority of them and the people did believe in Jesus and God. I think they wanted seperation of religion and State so that they would not wind up persecuting just like the imigrants were coming here from. God and Creator are mentioned in the Deeclaration Of Independence. The Constitition is secular to preserve the religious freedoms.

Half-jokingly: Maby were all civilized hunters maby? Or in the veggie sence: "civilized farmers".

The "atheist regimes" were bloodbaths in the name of the leader, for the sake of the leader's own personal vanity. The people were not brought to commit murder under the banner of atheism, they committed genocide under the banner of propaganda... and in Hitler's case, religion was a motivating force. Even if Hitler himself was an atheist.
But your statment is as disconnected as "people kill because of mustaches", Stalin and Hitler had both after all, but didn't kill in the name of the mustache.

"The worst bloodbaths in history are at the hands of atheist regimes".
Hitler's catholicism is skeptical but his followers, the ones who committed the acts, were most certainly not atheists. Hitler used their religious beliefs to make them feel as though they were doing divine justice. Hitler's personal beliefs actually don't really matter much there.
But the point is, people were not killed under a flag of atheism. "In the name of no god, slaughter!" was not uttered.

It's all about freedoms.
Removal of people's freedom to worship is evil.
Imposing Religious doctrine on people in a Theocracy is evil.
The Founding Fathers of the US were sound in creating a secular democracy.
They knew that based on history.
What's scary is that the religious nutters in the US want to have their cake and eat it too.
Free worship isn't good enough, they want to impose their dogma on everybody else and effectually take away their freedoms. |
