Could he have Temporal Lobe Amnesia? He has lost great parts of his Retrograde memory too. If he would "only" (if not sad enough) have anterograde amnesia, he would remember more of his youth and more people from before the amnesia started. Very sad if you can't remember anything new.
Memento is a strange movie btw!

Clive Wearnig cannot remember anything but how to do things, like eat, wear his clothes and even play the piano beautifully. He hasn`t lost his(PROCEDUAL MEMORY). THE most emotional aspect of his syndrome is that he is unable to make new memories. i still do not understand how or why he is able to remember his how his wife looks like and nobody else

It's called implicit or procedural memory, not semantic memory. Semantic memory is impaired in Clive.

I apolagize for the poor sentence structure which undoubtedly caused your misinterpretation of what my main point in the previos explanation was. Also to edit that post i meant to say it CAN'T go straight to long term memory bypassing both short term memory and working memory. |
