fine, forget the word capitalism and replace it with free market. do note that i think the State should prevent monopolies from forming; i support anti-trust laws.

In economic models Communism is far superior to Capitalism. However... When you involve actual human beings Communism just plain doesn't work. Sorry folks. Capitalism with all of its flaws (and there are many) is the only system that works. When tempered with a social safety net (Socialism) Capitalism helps the most people AND provides the potential for the highest standard of living for its citizens. U.S. does need a better social safety net...

how are to help yourself if the system you are won't let you stand on your own feet? Capitalism does not allow for competition, the idea is you maximize profit as much as possible, the best way to maximize profit is to monopolize. how is the bottom of the barrel suppose to work its way to the top when the top does all in its power from keeping the bottom at the bottom, thats where government comes in and says this monopolies need to be broken up so everyone has a chance. |
