I think the charge was underage sex since technically since polygamy is illegal the marriage contract is void so that just means your fucking someone who isn't your wife and thats legal here in the US. But girls as young as 16 I think were being married off to men and the age of consent in Texas is 17. Plus some of the women came forward and claimed they were raped so rape charges were also filled. But they couldn't do anything about polygamy since nothing illegal about fucking multiple women.

Stepping on the man. The man though usually loves his sin, and if men in general all had their hearts towards God, then More than one wife would be accepted and allows, and it would be done only under biblical mandates as opposed to fleshly lusts and unholy reasons aside from the obvious.
