thank god for Pearljam is spot on. There's no meaning to the song other than the meaning you find for yourself. Currently I'm thinking its saying to me "who put the extra flanging on this recording?" I'm sure it wasn't there in the original (was it?).

there's really no definate meaning. When Page and Plant wrote it they meant for there to be an open eneded meaning, take your own interpretation. Same as Yellowledbetter by Pearl Jam.
