It must have really taken balls to live aboard one of those tin cans.

" do salute the Germans that made this movie" aka Das Boot, they are Not the same Germans,,,, that served in ww2" Let's see... the author of "Das Boot," Lothar-Günther Buchheim, was a German wartime correspondant. The captain he served under on U-96 (Lothar-Günther Buchheim) and the 1st WO of the U-219 (Hans-Joachim Krug) also worked on this film.
Do you salute THEM, too?

"during ww2 the USA suffered its greatest shipping loss, in its History" We agree. Much of this could have been prevented. The RN had warned us, through decoded signals, that the U-Boats were on their way.
"no USA merchant seamen survided" No, no, no. I've INTERVIEWED a few. Please read "Operation Drumbeat," by Michael Gannon, or at least an online review. Reinhard Hardegen ORDERED a neutral ship to go rescue the crew of a ship he'd attacked, and threatened the neutral captain when he refused.

a0e0roberts what part of my posted comments, ie "I do salute the Germans that made this movie" aka Das Boot, they are Not the same Germans,,,, that served in ww2 Das Boot is a product, more of 1980 than 1930 a reflection of The Natzi machine, do destroy by all means, The norms of civilisation,

"You need a reality check,,, I salute the Germans that made this movie" By accusing them of committing atrocities. Odd salute, I think the British use two fingers for THAT kind of salute.
"a Navy that employed False Flag warships" A tactic used by both sides. Do you know what a Q-ship is?
"a Nation that Employed Concentration Camps to Slaughter innocent Men Women and Children" Ah, something we can finally agree on. But what does this have to do with U-Boats? You're a bit off-topic.
a0e0roberts (August 29, 2008 at 3:18 am)
"You seem to Glorify, the Natzi machine" It's spelled "Nazi," BTW. Still having trouble finding the "reply" button, I see.
OK, story so far: you claimed that the U-boat crews murdered survivors on a regular basis, and the RN would never have done so. I proved you WRONG on both accounts. Now you're talking about how terrible the Nazi death camps were, etc. Yes, they were horrific. Have I said otherwise? Please look at EACH message of mine. NOWHERE have I said what you claim I have. Grow up.

a0e0roberts Again what Substance, are you using before typing here,!? Let me, do a synopsis for you here & now,! Many months ago, I typed in the Das Boot comments , I believed this to be,a good movie, about how German submariners lost out in ww2, and that the orders they followed, would by most values, earn them a Death sentance, in any Military court, You seem to Glorify, the Natzi machine, an Airforce that Blitzed way over a mostly undefended Europe, an Army that went on to Slaughter
