wonderful wonderful playing! so precise and faithful to the text (which is so important in messiaen's music....), yet full of elan and lively spirit. no wonder why he's one of today's greatest (and most intelligent) pianists....

The beginning part reminds me of a piano crashing down a spiral of stairs! I love this piece! Superbly performed. Explosive and dextrous from the start. Aimard is probably my favourite contemporay pianist. I do like Muraro too. At 1:24 I can imagine ripples of water and reflective light. There are moments of wonderful cascading chords at (2:54 onwards)which reflect the colossal sound world Messiaen wanted to evoke. There are also moments of birdsong throughout the piece. Especially at 7:39!

Really, what an incredible performance - I have the whole CD of the Vingt regards played by Aimard, but seeing him makes it even more... joyful. I wonder whether there are any other vids with Aimard interpreting Messiaen than posted here up to now? Perhaps "Regard du Fils sur le Fils", "Par Lui tout a été fait", "Première communion de la Vierge", or "Le baiser de l'Enfant-Jésus"?! :)

This performance captures the absolute joy composed into this movement. What excitement! It gave me chills just listening to this performance.
